Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Recap - 2007 NFL Draft
The key to this draft is whether Timmons adequately replaces Joey Porter. They really didnt do much other than fill some positions and then there was the boneheaded move of trading up in the fourth round to take a punter. No one trades up for a punter. They got some steals in later rounds.

Overall Grade: B-

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 15 Lawrence Timmons OLB Florida State
Vic Carucci's Analysis
Timmons is an exceptional athlete. This was a little high for his measureables, but his considerable athleticism and versatility are what the Steelers need for a defense that will likely incorporate both 4-3 and 3-4 concepts.

Overall Value: 3  Pick Value: 2  Bust factor: 3

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
2 46 LaMarr Woodley DE Michigan
 Analysis
Woodley is a player who's suited for the Pittsburgh defense because he can play with his hand on the ground or in space. Woodley really struggled against top competition at the Senior Bowl and doesn't run real well. He's probably not a starter though more of a situational player. One round early.

Overall Value: 5  Pick Value: 3  Bust factor: 4

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
3 77 Matt Spaeth TE Minnesota
 Analysis
He's a huge target who caught a lot of passes. He played with a shoulder injury last season, then had surgery and missed the bowl game and didn't get to work out until late in the spring. A powerful in line blocker at 6' 7" 268 pounds, but he has limited speed
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 112 Daniel Sepulveda P Baylor
 Analysis
Who trades up for a punter? That said he is a great punter, but that's a desperate move.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 132 Ryan McBean DE Oklahoma State
 Analysis
He is a massive defensive end at 6' 5" 290 lbs. A steal down this low in the 4th round if he can put that size to use and gain some strength
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 156 Cameron Stephenson G Rutgers
 Analysis
A former defensive lineman he is still raw, but he is a very strong, tough player. A good choice here; he has a chance to be a starter eventually.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 170 William Gay CB Louisville
 Analysis
Gay (5-10 1/8, 184; 4.56) was productive at Louisville; he made about six interceptions.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 227 Dallas Baker WR Florida
 Analysis
60 catches for 10 TDs in 2006. Baker has very good hands and is a possession receiver.
