Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Recap - 2007 NFL Draft
Reggie Nelson is a great athlete and might end up being the best safety in this class with his ability to cover and his room for growth. Linebacker Justin Durant was the best small-college defensive player in the land. They did really well late grabbing up Chad Nkang who is a small school tweener,  but he is a playmaker, and a really good football player, a steal in the 7th.

Overall Grade: B

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 21 Reggie Nelson FS Florida
 Analysis
The Jaguars traded down into this spot knowing they had to have a safety. And they got at least the second best safety in the draft. Great pass covering safeties are very hard to find. Nelson is ready to step in as an immediate starter. He just obliterates people.

Overall Value: 3  Pick Value: 3  Bust factor: 3

2 48 Justin Durant ILB Hampton
 Analysis
This is the first NCAA Division I-AA player to get picked. He is an athlete. He can play in space, and he has the strength to make plays at the line of scrimmage against the run. Big upside.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
3 79 Mike Walker WR Central Florida
 Analysis
A big speed receiver (6-1, 209; 4.35). He's got very good hands and he's smooth. He's a little bit of a gamble, but his numbers justify the pick.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 101 Adam Podlesh P Maryland
 Analysis
Chris Hanson struggled last year, but this is high for a punter. He doesn't have a 75-yard leg, but he is adept at getting the ball out of bounds or kicking it high to prevent big returns.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 113 Brian Smith DE Missouri
 Analysis
If Smith gets healthy and achieves his potential, the Jaguars will have hit a home run here. Probably a rush end or hybrid at the NFL level due to his smaller frame.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 149 Uche Nwaneri G Purdue
 Analysis
Nwaneri (6-3 1/8, 325) has 5.31 speed. He’s a lot like Texas Tech’s Manuel Ramirez. He’s a true guard prospect.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 150 Josh Gattis FS Wake Forest
 Analysis
Gattis runs a 4.51 at 206 pounds. He can hit and he can tackle and will make it on special teams to start with.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
5 166 Derek Landri DT Notre Dame
 Analysis
Just a steady performer. Probably a practice squad player this year.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 229 John Broussard WR San Jose State
 Analysis
This is a big WR but is not a great speed player. He had a real good workout at San Jose's Pro Day.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 251 Chad Nkang ILB Elon
 Analysis
He has 4.47 speed and should be a really good special-teams player.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 252 Andrew Carnahan OT Arizona State
 Analysis
He's 6-7 1/8 and 306 pounds.
