The
real value or loss from this year's
draft comes from the players netted by
trading picks away. Getting quarterback
Jason Campbell last season – in exchange
for this year's first-rounder doesn't
look so solid yet, but only time will
tell. Acquiring Brandon Lloyd for this
year's third-rounder was a good move,
considering he has just as much talent
as any wideout in this year's draft. The
Redskins gave up far too much to move up
18 spots in the second round to draft
McIntosh (2 second rounders with one
being next year and a 6th). He almost
has to be a great player from the get-go
to make that look even ok.
Overall
Grade: D+ How do you grade a
one player draft?
McIntosh quickly
flashed his athleticism and
consistently made plays all over
the field. He is a very quick,
smooth athlete who plays very
well behind the line of
scrimmage and can adjust to make
plays out in space.
Montgomery is a
unique defensive tackle with the
combination of very good
athleticism and playing
strength. His instincts and foot
quickness help him to
consistently burst off the ball,
he's almost always the first
defensive lineman moving at the
snap and gets on top of the
offensive linemen fast.
Golston has had
injury problems throughout his
college career and he is going
to struggle to stay healthy in
the NFL. He does not use his
hands well to take on and shed
blocks well and, if this does
not improve, he will really
struggle to be a consistently
productive defensive tackle.
He has the
natural strength to drive a
defensive lineman down the line
of scrimmage on down/side blocks
when he blocks aggressively.
Lefotu is soft-bodied and
fleshy, which is always a
concern. He does not block
aggressively or with a sense of
urgency.
Simon is a very
good athlete who consistently
reads and reacts to the play in
a flash and has the playing
speed to chase down plays in
pursuit. Simon's biggest problem
is that he has been hurt a ton
at Tennessee, which has led him
to miss many games and due to
his lack of size he will
struggle to stay healthy in the
NFL.
