Tennessee Titans Draft Recap - 2006 NFL Draft
Tennessee's first two choices QB Vince Young and RB LenDale White have a massive amount of star power. If the Titans can ease Young into a starting role and get White healthy and keep him motivated, the Titans have the long-term potential to deliver this year's best draft class as well as sell a ton of tickets. The only question is the short term as Young could use some mentoring and it is appearing like that will not be happening.

Overall Grade: A-  Getting a franchise QB and then LenDale White in a freefall means a great future for the Titans.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. School
1 3 Young, Vince QB 6-5 228 Texas
With a legend bigger than his abilities thanks to an inspired performance in the Rose Bowl, Vince Young has become this years biggest question. He has soem amazing tools, as his speed and agility will make him the second most feared running quarterback in the league, and his arm strength will allow him to make the throws he needs to.  He has some downside though and that is a throwing motion that is to say the least, not what you look for in an NFL quarterback. Vince throws almost sidearm and it will take some serious work on those mechanics to keep his balls from being swatted right back at him. He has all the intangibles and you won't find a better on field leader as the players all love him. Don't believe the wonderlic stories, there is nothing about Young that is not football smart. He should not be a first year starter for his own development, but his upside is unbelievable...more
2 45 White, LenDale RB 6-0 237 Southern California
LenDale White is a load to bring down and has solidified himself as one of the best power runners in college football a freight train ready to run defenders over is the description heard most.  This is also his biggest negative in that he has tended to play heavy and likes to play heavy as it fits his style. You hear a lot of scouts talking about his weight a lot. He is really fast for his size a lot like the Chiefs Larry Johnson only with more of a Jerome Bettis attitude.  He could very well be the best back overall out of this class...more
4 102 Lowry, Calvin SS 5-11 197 Penn State
Lowry is an overachieving safety who consistently has shown a knack for making plays despite lacking the athleticism coaches want in a safety.
4 116 Tulloch, Stephen ILB 5-11 242 North Carolina State
Tulloch is a junior who came out early for the Draft, and while he would not have grown any taller or become a better athlete with another season, he definitely would have helped himself by staying for his senior season
5 137 Nande, Terna OLB 6-0 233 Miami (Ohio)
Nande is a good athlete with the playing speed to chase down plays from sideline to sideline. He has very quick feet and drops off the ball into zone coverage very quickly.
5 169 Mahelona, Jesse DT 6-1 310 Tennessee
Mahelona is a good athlete with the instincts and foot quickness to consistently burst off the ball, shoot gaps and get backfield penetration. He is a consistently disruptive force that is always in the backfield blowing plays up before they get started.
6 172 Orr, Jonathan WR 6-2 197 Wisconsin
Orr is a receiver that does not play up to his height, weight and speed combination. He is a tall receiver with the quick feet to accelerate to full speed quickly, and once he gets to full speed, he has the speed to get down the field.
7 215 Finnegan, Cortland FS 5-10 189 Samford
Finnegan is an explosive safety who consistently flies around the field making plays vs. the run and the pass. He comes up very quickly in run support, closes explosively on the ball and can make hard, violent tackles when he stays over his feet and under control.
7 245 Toone, Spencer OLB 6-1 235 Utah
Toone is a short linebacker with good straight-line playing speed which combines with his instincts to let him consistently make plays when he has a clear path chasing after the ball in pursuit.
7 246 Ganther, Quinton RB 5-9 219 Utah
Ganther was primarily a backup running back until his senior season at Utah. He is a strong, physical runner who runs hard between the tackles, fights for extra yards and often gains yards after contact.
