San Francisco 49ers Draft Recap - 2006 NFL Draft
The 49ers did a great job in moving up to get two first rounders both of whom are playmakers and then filled their receiver needs in the next rounds with very nice players for the system and in Robinson a very good risk/reward prospect. This team is still young and a ways from being great, but they are definitely moving in the right direction.

Overall Grade A

Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. School
1 6 Davis, Vernon TE 6-3 256 Maryland
Vernon Davis has amazing strength for a player with his speed and agility. He has good size and soft hands but could face some troubles trying to block linebackers at the next level. He is best fit into a passing offense and can be an unbelievable upgrade to the right offense. Probably one of the best tight end prospects to come along in some time and his impact will likely be close to that of Tony Gonzalez...more
1 22 Lawson, Manny OLB 6-5 240 North Carolina State
He has the speed and ability to fulfill a rush end position although he wont be able to play every down at end in the NFL at end he could be used in the manner of a Derrick Thomas who was a linebacker but for all intensive purposes played at end most of the time...more
3 84 Williams, Brandon WR 5-9 180 Wisconsin
Williams is a very quick-footed receiver, who runs very sharp and precise routes with good hands.
4 100 Robinson, Michael WR 6-1 226 Penn State
For every Hines Ward or Drew Bennett, there are many who never were able to make the switch good risk/reward proposition at this spot though.
5 140 Haralson, Parys DE 6-0 248 Tennessee
Haralson is a very good athlete with the speed to get the corner and the burst to close on the quarterback and get the sack
6 175 Walker, Delanie WR 6-1 241 Central Missouri State
Walker is a big receiver with good natural athleticism. Once he catches the ball he accelerates to full speed fast and has the playing speed to score long touchdowns.
6 192 Hudson, Marcus FS 6-1 193 North Carolina State
His instincts combine with his athleticism to let him get outside to make tackles vs. the run and to make plays on the ball vs. deep, outside passes.
6 197 Oliver, Melvin DE 6-3 279 Louisiana State
He is a good athlete with the quick feet and playing speed to chase down ball carriers on runs away between the offensive tackles
7 254 Vaughn, Vickiel FS 5-11 208 Arkansas
Vaughn (6-0, 203) is a safety from Arkansas who ran well at his Pro Day (4.62 and 4.64 in the 40s, 4.09 in the short shuttle, and 6.65 in the three-cone drill).
