New Orleans Saints Draft Recap - 2006 NFL Draft
The Saints had an interesting draft.  They did the smart thing and took the superstar with their first pick but then They used a second-round pick on Daniel Bullocks last year, and they traded for Byron Scott, so this is a strange pick to begin with as well as a round too soon, the rest of the draft was just OK.

Overall Grade: B+ for having the good sense to take the superstar when they could.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. School
1 2 Bush, Reggie RB 5-11 200 Southern California
Bush, with graceful elusiveness and blurring speed, should be a runner, receiver and returner who makes an instant impact. He is an explosive player that will draw immense attention from defenses and still find ways to gain yards. Comparisons that are unfair to Bush are being made, we wont go so far as some have and call him the second coming of Jim Brown, or Gale Sayers, but he is absolutely the best all around football player to come out of college since Marshall Faulk and Barry Sanders...more
2 43 Harper, Roman FS 6-0 197 Alabama
Harper is a talented safety with all the physical tools to be a good starting NFL safety who can make plays vs. the run and the pass. When he plays aggressively, he flies upfield fast, avoids blockers and can be a hard hitter, but he does not consistently play aggressively vs. the run
4 108 Evans, Jahri OT 6-4 317 Bloomsburg
Evans is a very good athlete with the feet and agility that is rarely seen is a 325-plus pound offensive tackle. He has the foot quickness and playing speed to get through to the second level to block linebackers very easily and can pull and make very effective blocks out in front on outside runs.
5 135 Ninkovich, Rob DE 6-3 260 Purdue
Ninkovich is an athletic defensive end who has shown a knack for consistently stepping up and making plays
6 171 Hass, Mike WR 6-0 208 Oregon State
Hass is a solidly built receiver who can keep his feet vs. hard hits, breaks tackles and consistently gains yards after contact.
6 174 Lay, Josh 'Bernard' CB 6-0 196 Pittsburgh
Lay is a good athlete with the quick feet, agility and playing speed that is hard to find in a 6-foot cornerback
7 210 Strief, Zach G 6-7 349 Northwestern
Strief is a huge offensive lineman who has the natural strength to torque and toss defensive linemen to the ground and can stop bull rushers in their tracks.
7 252 Colston, Marques TE 6-4 223 Hofstra
Colston is a good athlete with the playing speed to run good routes as a tight end.
