Tennessee Titans Draft Recap - 2006 NFL Draft
New England loaded up on offense, getting an eventual replacement for Corey Dillon in Laurence Maroney and stealing Chad Jackson in the second round. The only question we have about this draft is where is the defense? They are getting old on that side of the ball quickly.

Overall Grade: A-

As usual good drafting for the future on offense.

Rd Sel# Player Pos. Ht. Wt. School
1 21 Maroney, Laurence RB 6-0 216 Minnesota
Laurence Maroney is an explosive runner with great vision and is a complete back who can do it all. A nice combo of size, speed, and power who has extremely quick feet and never stops moving his legs which allows him to break tackles and pick up extra yardage.  He also blocks very well for a college player and will be a superstar in the right system at the next level...more
2 36 Jackson, Chad WR 6-1 212 Florida
Chad is a well-rounded and talented prospect who possesses all the physical tools you look for in a #1 NFL wideout.  He lacks experience though and would have benefited greatly from another year in college. He does have a ton of potential and has not yet reached it...more
3 86 Thomas, Dave TE 6-3 239 Texas
Smart and tough receiver that consistently has shown the ability to make key catches when Texas needed them most
4 106 Mills, Garrett TE 6-1 227 Tulsa
The more you watch Mills, the more you see just how consistently productive he is. Mills is a very smart player who has been able to line up in a variety of different positions without making mental errors.
4 118 Gostkowski, Stephen K 6-2 210 Memphis
Gostkowski is a strong-legged kicker who earned his opportunity to impress scouts at this year's Senior Bowl, but was surprisingly left off the list of specialists invited to the NFL Combine.
5 136 O'Callaghan, Ryan G 6-7 343 California
O'Callaghan played tackle at California and will need to make the switch to guard to be effective in the NFL.
6 191 Mincey, Jeremy DE 6-4 258 Florida
Mincey really lacks the burst off the ball to be an impact pass rusher and will have to rely on competitiveness and all-out effort to be productive.
6 205 Stevenson, Dan G 6-5 297 Notre Dame
Stevenson is a good college football player whose toughness, smarts and competitiveness will help him make the jump from Notre Dame to the NFL.
6 206 Smith, Le Kevin DT 6-3 315 Nebraska
Smith is a big, strong defensive tackle with all the physical tools to eventually become a good starter in the NFL. But in order for him to become the player he is capable of, he needs to attack the play more.
7 229 Andrews, Willie CB 5-9 182 Baylor
Andrews is under-sized for a safety and is not a good-enough tackler to consistently tackle NFL ball carriers. At the same time, he lacks experience as a cornerback and does not play up to his 40-time in coverage.
