Green
Bay what can we say but wow. With 13
total picks, including five in the top
75 the Pack got to fill a ton of needs.
They got so many great young players
here that the roster moves should be
very interesting. Linebackers A.J. Hawk
and Abdul Hodge should be a great tandem
for years to come they were our #1
respective outside and inside
linebackers. Tackle Daryn Colledge and
center Jason Spitz should eventually
develop into starters. Greg Jennings and
Cory Rodgers add depth to the receiving
crew and should provide what Terrence
Murphy would have if he hadn't been
injured. Cornerback/wide receiver Will
Blackmon offers flexibility and can also
be a return specialist. Defensive tackle
Johnny Jolly was a absolute steal in the
sixth round.
A three-year
letter winner with the Buckeyes,
Hawk was the best LB in the
draft. His speed, ability to
read what's going on, and
coverage skills will be great
assets to him in the NFL. His
toughness will also help him, as
most of the people he will go up
against will be bigger than him.
He will be able to step in and
make an impact almost
instantly...more
There's no doubt
he has the athletic ability to
be a very good starting
offensive tackle in the NFL, but
until he improves his playing
strength and greatly improves
his blocking technique, he will
struggle to carve out an NFL
career.
Jennings is a
very good athlete with the foot
quickness, agility and
explosiveness to make big plays
in the open field. He makes his
biggest impact by making things
happen after the catch.
Other than lack
of size it is not easy to
pinpoint many glaring weaknesses
with this Hodge, he hits like a
truck and is an excellent
tackler with great instincts.
His toughness and all around
talent is going to make a lot of
teams fall in love with him...more
Rodgers is a
junior who came out early for
the draft. He is clearly a
talented receiver/returner with
the talent to become a
productive impact receiver in
the NFL.
Blackmon made the
switch from cornerback to wide
receiver in 2005, and he is best
suited to play receiver in the
NFL. He has the size and
strength you like in a receiver
and plays surprisingly stronger
than even his good size says he
should.
Martin produced
at a much lower level of
football after being unable to
win a starting job at Florida,
so you have to wonder about his
ability to compete in the NFL.
Culver is the
type of safety who jumps off the
film quickly when he flies
upfield and makes good violent
hits. However, due to his lack
of size, he struggles to
consistently break down and
tackle.
