Carnell "Cadillac" Williams - 2005 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT - RB  - Auburn

College: Auburn
Position: Running Back
Class: Senior
Height: 5-11
Weight: 204
40-Yard: 4.50
Birth date:
Quick Summary:   Hardly anyone refers to him this way, but his given name is Carnell.

Even though he lacks ideal size and speed he is still considered a premier pro prospect.

One thing he does have is a pre-built endorsement machine in the moniker "Cadillac"  He has pretty much quit using his given name at all at this point.

Williams has excellent acceleration to and through the hole, and has the ability to cut and make defenders miss. He runs with authority, and battles for the extra yard. He possesses great vision, and just seems to know where the hole is. He is a willing inside runner, and yet he still has the speed to be a threat outside.

The biggest problem with Williams is his frame. He has a slim build, and he could really use some extra pounds. It would help him be a stronger interior runner, and help him be more of a workhorse.

While Williams has good speed, he isn’t a true burner. Cadillac also needs to show he can catch the ball out of the backfield, as he hasn't been asked to do that a great deal until this point.

Cadillac is a very good running back prospect, and could have a very good NFL career.  He has been consistently moving up and should be a sure top ten pick.

Combine Notebook: He will do everything at the combine.  He thinks that he is the total package.  He believes in his work ethic. Got nickname because he ran smooth like a Cadillac.  Favorite team is Cowboys.

Strengths: The embodiment of pure athletic ability and talent with amazing vision, Cadillac can change direction and cut on a dime. He is the quintessential "pads" player, he plays much faster than his timed speed and is extremely quick.  Carnell has the "It" factor and intuition that all the great ones possess with the potential to be a franchise running back in the NFL.

Weaknesses: The only glaring things as a runner are his size and average speed.  But his speed seems to improve when he puts the pads on.  He is not a great blocker or a great receiver out of the backfield, in many of the negative ways he is a lot like Larry Johnson.  But both are players who seem to get it done when they need to.
