Worst Of The Worst Playoffs

AFC Divisional Playoffs

#3 1971 Buffalo Bills (1-13) vs. #2 1973 Houston Oilers (1-13)

The ’71 Bills came into this game on a roll after losing to the ’81 Colts 22-0. But something happened on the way to Houston…they actually started playing the game of football the way it’s supposed to be played. But fortunately for them the ’73 Oilers, who are lead by QB Dan Pastorini, played the game just a little bit better. This is definitely not how a Worst of the Worst playoff game is supposed to played…I mean, these guys actually played well, too well. But fortunately someone has to lose and that someone was the ’71 Bills. They now advance to play the winner of the ’90 Patriots and ’91 Colts in the AFC Championship game.

Non-Player of the Game: No one, they all played to well!

#4 1991 Indianapolis Colts (1-15) vs. #1 1990 New England Patriots (1-15)

Now this is more like it. These two teams played like they actually wanted to lose this game and advance to the AFC Championship. After a less than stellar performance at home versus the ’96 Jets last week the ’91 Colts looked to continue that cold streak. But they would have a tough task because this ’90 Patriots didn’t just have the #1 seed handed to them (well actually they did), they earned it and looked to prove that their 1-15 season was no fluke. And prove it they did. The statistics will show that the ’90 Patriots had the better day but they sucked where it counted the most…on the scoreboard. They racked up 101 yards on the ground and 178 thru the air but managed to only put up 3…count them…3 points. That’s the stuff of champions right there. They move to the AFC Championship game where they will face the 1971 Buffalo Bills.
